As the new academic year approaches, online and brick-and-mortar retailers across the UAE have launched "Back to School" campaigns, offering discounts ranging from 30% to 80% on stationery, bags, technology products, food items, and home study equipment.

From August 14 to September 2, Noon is offering discounts of up to 80% on thousands of school-related items. Platform executives noted that families are increasingly seeking discount bundles and installment payment options this year, though a segment of shoppers continues to invest more in durable, branded bags and stationery.

Lulu has also introduced discounts of up to 65% on more than 30,000 items, alongside a scholarship program totaling AED 100,000. Under this initiative, ten scholarships worth AED 10,000 each will be awarded. Customers who spend a minimum of AED 100 on eligible school products, either in-store or online, will be entered into the draw.

Choithrams is offering up to 60% off on selected items, while Al Adil and Al Maya supermarkets are providing discounts of up to 50%. Market experts indicate that prices for some back-to-school products have risen by approximately 5% to 10% compared to last year due to higher production, shipping, and operational costs. However, retailers have attempted to offset these increases through promotional offers.

In the technology sector, Jumbo’s campaign, running from August 7 to September 13, features discounts of up to 35% on laptops, 30% on tablets, and up to 50% on monitors, projectors, printers, and IT accessories. Certain purchases also include gifts, discounted maintenance services, laptop trade-in schemes, and installment plans of up to 24 months.

Retailers report that consumers are comparing prices more frequently this year, shopping earlier, and showing a preference for durable, reusable products and value-driven multi-packs.
