Dubai’s private education sector is undergoing a significant transformation. Already a host to some of the Middle East’s premier private schools, the city is further cementing its position as a global hub for international education with the arrival of several of Britain’s most prestigious and historic institutions. The entry of renowned names such as Harrow Dubai, Queen Elizabeth’s School, and Rugby School Dubai has ushered in a new era of intense competition within the emirate’s private schooling landscape.

The primary driver behind this surge in demand is a widespread desire among parents for their children to be educated within the framework and quality of a traditional British education. Furthermore, despite regional challenges and tensions between the United States and Iran, Dubai’s population growth has remained resilient, reaching a record high of 4.73 million in July. Coupled with government support for educational investment, experts predict that Dubai will require an additional 30 to 40 new schools over the next decade.

The elite Harrow boarding school in the UK boasts an illustrious history, with prominent figures such as Winston Churchill among its alumni. The Dubai branch operates under the ownership and management of Taaleem. In its initial phase, Harrow Dubai has begun admitting students from Foundation stages through Year 6, with plans to eventually expand to Year 13.

Annual tuition fees at Harrow Dubai start at 80,000 AED (approximately $21,800) for Foundation stages, rising to 106,000 AED (approximately $28,863) for Year 6, and reaching 128,000 AED (approximately $34,853) for the final pre-university year. Approximately 375 students representing more than 50 different nationalities have enrolled for the 2026-2027 academic year, although some admission processes faced delays following the onset of regional conflicts on February 28.

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth’s School is set to open in Dubai Sports City as a joint venture between the QE Barnet charitable trust and GEDU Education. Annual tuition fees have been set at 93,500 AED (approximately $29,459) for kindergarten and 136,604 AED (approximately $37,000) for Years 7 and 8. The arrival of these prestigious British schools underscores the flourishing future of the premium education market in Dubai.
