On Thursday morning, October 15, Abu Dhabi Police and Civil Defence teams responded to a fire on a floating platform off the coast of Hudayriyat Island. By noon, there had been no announcement that the blaze had been brought under control, while authorities had released no details about its cause, the extent of the damage or any possible injuries.

Abu Dhabi Police said in a post on X that its teams, alongside the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, were responding to the fire. It also urged the public to obtain information about the incident only from official sources.

On Sunday, October 11, Abu Dhabi Police announced that a warehouse fire in the Al Dhafra region had been brought under control, with no injuries reported. The cause of that fire was also not disclosed, and police similarly advised the public to rely only on official sources for information.

Hudayriyat Island lies west of Abu Dhabi’s main island and is connected to the city by a bridge. According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the area has been transformed in recent years from a largely remote island into a destination for luxury living, sports and beachfront recreation.
