Ras Al Khaimah authorities addressed 937 consumer complaints in 2023, successfully resolving 95% of the cases, according to official statistics.
The report indicated that 28 of the reports concerned counterfeit products bearing registered trademarks in the emirate's markets. Authorities acted immediately upon receiving these complaints, dispatching inspection teams.
Through targeted inspection campaigns, authorities seized 666,255 counterfeit items from 71 shops and commercial establishments. The total estimated market value of the seized goods amounted to AED 31,048,729. The "Commercial Protection Section" at the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Economic Development handled these complaints.
The Ras Al Khaimah Department of Economic Development stated that these campaigns are part of its ongoing efforts to enhance market safety, protect consumer rights, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing trademarks. The department noted that counterfeit goods pose risks to consumers and damage the reputation and competitiveness of legitimate businesses.
The department urged consumers to report any violations or suspected counterfeit products in Ras Al Khaimah, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining a safe, transparent, and lawful business environment throughout the emirate.
