Construction has begun on two new pedestrian bridges in Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah. Under the project timeline, the first bridge will be completed in June 2027 and the second in October of the same year.

The project is being implemented through a partnership between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Holding Community Management. It aims to enhance pedestrian safety, improve accessibility and ease traffic flow in the area.

According to the RTA, the two bridges will have a combined capacity of 2,700 pedestrians per hour and are expected to benefit around 16,000 residents.

Bridge locations and completion dates

The first bridge will be built near the Shoreline area at the entrance to Palm Jumeirah, with construction scheduled for completion in June 2027.

The second bridge will be constructed in the Golden Mile area, adjacent to retail centres, and is scheduled for completion in October 2027.

The RTA said the combined capacity of the two bridges will exceed current pedestrian demand and accommodate increased footfall in the coming years.

The project is designed to facilitate pedestrian movement, improve access to different parts of Palm Jumeirah and ease traffic flow across the area.

Focus on infrastructure development and enhanced safety

Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at the RTA, said the project reflects the authority’s strategic partnership with Dubai Holding to align road infrastructure and transport networks with major urban development plans.

He added that the partnership aims to deliver integrated traffic solutions tailored to current and future needs, improve connectivity between key areas and destinations, enhance safety, facilitate access and support sustainable urban development in Dubai.

Francis Giani, CEO of Dubai Holding Community Management, said the new bridges would enhance pedestrian safety and improve traffic flow by facilitating access and strengthening connectivity between different parts of Palm Jumeirah.

He said the investment reflects the company’s commitment to creating future-ready residential communities that prioritise residents and their quality of everyday life.
