Asus Special-Edition Handheld Gaming Console With Smart Glasses Launches in UAE for AED 11,000
ASUS has launched a special limited-edition “ROG Xbox Ally X20 Bundle” in the UAE to mark the 20th anniversary of its ROG gaming brand. The bundle includes a Windows-based handheld gaming device, augmented-reality gaming glasses and accessories, priced at AED 10,999.
The device allows users to play PC games without a desktop computer or external monitor. By connecting the included glasses, users can also experience their games on a large virtual display.
Exclusive design marks ROG’s 20th anniversary
The special-edition ROG Xbox Ally X20 was designed to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the ROG brand, founded in 2006.
The device’s semi-transparent black casing reveals parts of its internal components, accented with gold details. It also features a dedicated ROG 20th-anniversary emblem.
The design extends across the bundle’s other products, including gold accents on the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 gaming glasses, a custom dbrand Killswitch protective case featuring a circuit-inspired pattern, and a Pelican protective case with red latches.
OLED Display and Upgraded Controls
Compared with the previous ROG Xbox Ally X model, the device features a larger display and redesigned controls.
The display has increased from 7 inches to 7.4 inches, while LCD technology has been replaced by OLED. The new screen supports Full HD resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,400 nits in HDR mode.
The handheld console is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor and comes with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
The new joysticks also use TMR technology to reduce unintended movement, commonly known as controller drift.
The main buttons have also been redesigned, while the device’s directional pad can switch between four-way and eight-way modes.
The device runs Windows 11, allowing users to manage games installed from Xbox and other PC gaming stores in a single library.
A 171-Inch Virtual Display Experience with AR Glasses
One of the main accessories in the package is the “ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20” augmented reality glasses, which connect to the device via a USB-C cable.
According to Asus, the glasses can create a virtual image that, when viewed from four metres away, appears equivalent to a display measuring up to 171 inches.
The glasses use Micro-OLED displays and support refresh rates of up to 240Hz in frame-rate boost mode.
Users can configure the virtual display to move with their head or remain fixed in position.
The feature is designed for use at home, while travelling and in environments where a large display is unavailable.
Accessories Included with the Device
In addition to the handheld gaming device and augmented reality glasses, the special-edition ROG Xbox Ally X20 bundle includes the following accessories:
• Custom dbrand Killswitch case with a kickstand, protective cover and joystick grips
• Rugged Pelican Protector Case featuring a custom ROG 20th-anniversary design
• 68-watt power adapter
The Pelican case features custom-fitted internal compartments, allowing all the bundle’s components to be stored and carried together.
