Sharjah Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a car theft and recovered the stolen vehicle just two hours after the incident was reported.

Police said the vehicle’s owner reported the theft on the evening of September 24, prompting specialist teams to immediately launch search and investigation operations.

The suspect was subsequently identified and arrested before being referred to a police station for further legal procedures. The vehicle was returned to its owner.

Sharjah Police said the vehicle had been left with its engine running when it was stolen, warning motorists that doing so can make their cars easy targets for thieves.

Motorists were urged to switch off their engines, lock their doors and avoid leaving valuables inside their vehicles, even during brief stops at shops, petrol stations or ATMs.

Sharjah Police also reminded citizens and residents to call 999 in emergencies and 901 for non-emergency enquiries and services.
